About Me

Before I retired and went to live in the Netherlands, I lived in Somerset. Researching the family history took me all over Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset. Because of a lack of information about the family history I expanded my searches and started looking into the families that married into my main line. This lead me to the Longs of Jamacia. Then I decided to traced as many members of the Long family I could find.

About Me

My ancestor is Benjamin Long born in Trowbridge approx 1817-19..think mother may have been from Berkshire. He and his family / siblings came to New Brunswick . Settled in Utterson Ontario (Muskoka) with his wife Mary Ann Richard. His brother Joshua settled near Gravenhurst Ontario. Would like to know more about this line. We were in Trowbridge for a few hours Sept. 2013. Beautiful place.

About Me

The Eldon Long family, is interested in learning about the Long Family history and our country of origin.  Our path reaches William Long, born 1755 in Va.  From there, we have not been able to confirm his father & mothers full names and place of birth.  Can't  wait to learn more about the Long Family of Wiltshire.

About Me

I am a native of Jackson, Mississippi, the American state of which I am seventh-generation born. Before that our Longs migrated to Mississippi from Alabama, Tennessee and the American colony/state of North Carolina, migrating there in the early 1700s in the Albermarle region of North Carolina from Isle of Wight, Virginia, and of course before then, Dracycot, Witshire and South Wraxall Manor, England. Our earliest ancestor denoted was Robertus Longus in Latin as listed in the Domesday Book of England and the family resided on the estate of Chedglow's Hundred, or Chigglewae in old Norman English, one ancestor being the Abbot of Marbury, according to family lore.
