About Me

I'm a keen family historian and believe I have collateral links to the Longs, One of my ancestors was John Stileman 1637 to 1691. He was the father of Grace Stileman who married Richard Long 1668 to 1729 and grandfather of Ann Martyn who married Richard Long 1692 to 1760.

Many of my family links are to families in the Steeple Ashton and Keevil areas.

A lot of the information on your site is very interesting.

About Me

I'm trying to get a handle on my family name. I'm pretty sure we're Irish, but now that I've found this website, maybe English? Anyways, thanks for the add!

About Me

I am a native of Jackson, Mississippi, the American state of which I am seventh-generation born. Before that our Longs migrated to Mississippi from Alabama, Tennessee and the American colony/state of North Carolina, migrating there in the early 1700s in the Albermarle region of North Carolina from Isle of Wight, Virginia, and of course before then, Dracycot, Witshire and South Wraxall Manor, England. Our earliest ancestor denoted was Robertus Longus in Latin as listed in the Domesday Book of England and the family resided on the estate of Chedglow's Hundred, or Chigglewae in old Norman English, one ancestor being the Abbot of Marbury, according to family lore.
