At last my book Inheriting the Earth: The Long family's 500 year reign in Wiltshire is published. It has been a long wait, but thanks to my publisher Hobnob Press it is now available for purchase on Amazon and other online booksellers.

Trevor Long of Penn says...Fabulous book, can't put it down now I've started. So much detail. Regrettably no photos of me trying to read the gravestones in Wraxall Church this summer. A must read and Christmas present too.
Nancy Tremblay says...My husband just ordered the book. I have traced my genealogy through DNA and professionals back to Sir. Henry Long through Jane's line which immigrated to Jamestown in 1637. I viewed the tomb of Sir Henry Long in Draycote Cerne's church this past weekend. I can't wait to get home and read my book.
Christopher Melik Pease says...Just finished reading Inheriting the Earth. A brilliant piece of research and very well written. I thoroughly enjoyed the latter part of the book on account that there was probably a lot more research material available. Interesting facts about how large some of the Long families were, the high child mortality rate and the number of Longs that did not marry. The roller-coaster land ownership and financial state through the centuries was certainly well documented, as was the blindness of buying into questionable investments schemes. I had not known of the Longs of Jamaica - sugar, slaves and mismanagement of the plantations. So the Longs were in Australia too! I noted that Samuel Godfrey Long was a squadron leader in WWII, shot down in 1941 and imprisoned in Stalag Luft III, where Guy Pease was also interned. Bravo Cheryl.
